GRANGE INDOOR & SUCCULENT MIX 25L

A free-draining potting mix built for the plants that rot in standard mix. Indoor plants and succulents fail more often from staying wet than from anything else, particularly in Newtown terraces and Inner West apartments where pots sit indoors with limited airflow. This mix is formulated to hold enough moisture to keep a plant going without holding so much that the roots sit in it.

Why indoor plants and succulents need a free-draining potting mix

Standard potting mix holds water for garden beds and outdoor pots, where sun and wind pull the excess out. Indoors, that same mix stays saturated for days. Roots need air as well as water, and when the air spaces stay full the roots suffocate and rot sets in from the base. A coarser, faster-draining mix solves the problem at the source rather than asking you to water perfectly.

What to use Grange Indoor & Succulent Mix for

Use it for succulents, cacti, and jade. Use it for the indoor plants that prefer to dry out between waterings, including snake plants, ZZ plants, hoyas, string of pearls and most aroids. It also suits repotting anything currently sitting in old, compacted mix that no longer drains.

How to repot into a free-draining mix

Tip the plant out and tease the outer roots free, trimming anything circling the base. Choose a pot around 50mm wider than the last one, with a drainage hole. Part-fill, seat the plant at the same depth it was growing before, then backfill and firm gently. Water once, then leave it alone until the mix is dry several centimetres down.
