A late-winter Saturday morning project in Newtown

Late July in Sydney still calls for indoor projects. A terrarium built now will be well established by the time spring arrives, which is when glass terrariums look their best as the plants push new growth.

A terrarium workshop ticket makes a more considered gift than most things you can buy in five minutes online. The recipient gets a hands-on morning in Newtown, a finished glass terrarium they've built themselves, and a coffee and cookie from Flour Drum on King Street. Sessions run fortnightly on Saturdays at the NGM store.

What's included in your terrarium workshop ticket

Each ticket covers everything you need on the day. You'll work with a glass terrarium vessel, four plants chosen for terrarium conditions, potting mix, stones, and decorative finishing elements. No tools, no materials, nothing to bring except yourself. The NGM team guides you through the build from start to finish, and you take the completed terrarium home at the end of the session. Sessions run for approximately 90 minutes. All skill levels welcome, including complete beginners.

What happens if a session is sold out?

Each session is capped to keep numbers small and the format hands-on. If a session shows as sold out, check back closer to the date as spots occasionally become available through cancellations.

Workshop tickets make a practical gift for people who are interested in plants or looking for a hands-on activity in Sydney. The ticket format works as a standalone gift or alongside an NGM gift card.

Where exactly is the workshop held?

All sessions take place at Newtown Garden Market, 538 King Street, Newtown NSW 2042. The workshop space is inside the store.

Booking your spot

Tickets are sold in limited numbers to keep sessions genuinely hands-on. When a session shows as sold out, check back, as cancellations do occasionally free up spots. Corporate and private group bookings for the same format are available separately. Cancellation policy: contact the NGM team at least 48 hours before your session to transfer to a future date. No refunds within 48 hours of the session.
